Check these causes first
- Strong flow: move plants away from the filter outlet.
- Wet upper leaves: reduce splashing and condensation drips.
- Too little light: provide a consistent daily cycle.
- Too much light: shorten very intense lighting.
- Very low nutrients: test nitrate before adding fertiliser.
After adding it to a new tank
Some older leaves may decline while new growth adapts. Remove clearly damaged pieces, leave healthy green plants and avoid repeatedly changing conditions.
Is livestock eating it?
Some fish nibble roots or leaves. Snails normally concentrate on damaged material and biofilm rather than destroying healthy growth.
A safe recovery plan
Place a healthy portion in calm water, run moderate light for 6–8 hours and observe new growth for a week. Make one change at a time so you can identify the cause.
Never add fertiliser blindly. Choose a shrimp-safe product and follow its label after checking the aquarium’s actual needs.
