Start with feeding
Measure food and remove leftovers. If fish or shrimp leave food after a few hours, offer less next time. Clean trapped food from quiet corners and filter sponges using aquarium water.
Manual removal
Lift visible snails by hand or place a piece of blanched vegetable in the tank after lights out. Remove the vegetable and gathered snails the next morning. Check carefully for shrimp.
Remove egg clusters
Clear jelly-like clusters from glass and removable hardscape if you want to slow future growth. Repeat regularly because some clusters will be hidden.
Avoid quick chemical fixes
Copper and snail-killing treatments can harm shrimp and create an ammonia spike when many snails die together. They also fail to solve the excess-food cause.
Keep a useful population
You do not need to remove every snail. A stable modest group continues grazing and provides a visible indication of the tank’s food balance.
